[edit] Asian Culture

The continent is as diverse as any in the world. In the region commonly referred to as the Middle East, great religious wars have been raging throughout time. It is the birthplace of Christ, and the thirteen tribes of Israel. There are five million Jewish people, living mostly in Israel, twelve million Christians, and 292 million (92%) Muslims in the Middle East.

Shamanism is the oldest form of healing, and a religion based on a leader or Shaman who has mystical powers and can travel through other realities in order to achieve balance between man and spirits. This practice has its origins in the region of Siberia in northern Asia. Said to have been pre-Buddha, it is still practiced in many areas of Asia today, particularly in the central regions.

Other religious factions represented throughout Asia include, Hinduism, particularly in India, various forms of Buddhism, Shinto in Japan, and Daoism in China.

[edit] Asian Cuisine

The food of Asia differs as much as the regions themselves, from hot, curried dishes in India, to the more subtly spiced dishes of Japan. Even the ever-popular Chinese food differs from province to province. One staple of every Asian table, however, is rice. In Pakistan and northern India, an assortment of breads is included with the rice. Fish is used in very many Asian dishes due to proximity to the water. The inland countries, like Afghanistan and Iran, however, are dependant on dairy and meat products.
